The story of Satatuote
The Marva family, originally herring fishermen from Åland, settled in Rauma, Finland in the 1850s. Olavi Marva’s father, a sailor who circled the globe three times, vowed his sons would not go to sea if he died young—which he did in 1918. Olavi left school to support the family, turning to entrepreneurship.
In 1945, he founded a company that grew into the Marva Group, now an international business with 100 employees. Satatuote began the same year, initially producing paper bags for Alko.
Today, it is a trusted strategic partner for both the pharmaceutical and food industries, specializing in high-quality, thermoformed plastic packaging. Family business values and a long-term vision continue to guide the work, ensuring your success tomorrow as well.
From a one-man company to an international player

1974
The first thermoforming line is installed at the company’s factory.
1986

Satatuote focuses on thermoforming, selling its carton packaging production.

A strong investment cycle begins to enhance automation.

Satatuote establishes a logistics center in the Czech Republic.
2017
In-house MARVAN plastic raw material production starts, and an extrusion line is launched in Rauma.
2019
Investments in production efficiency and automation continue, strengthening the foundation for growth.
2020
Factory expansion and new logistics area completed in Rauma.
2023
Expansion in Central Europe: a sales office opens in Bielefeld, Germany, and a logistics center in Switzerland.
2024
Significant investments in production and storage capacity at the Rauma plant, as well as in digitalization.
2025
The largest investment in the company’s history: a new factory opens in the Czech Republic.
